Welsh Water Framework Award

Glenfield Invicta wins exclusive contract to supply reservoir valves to Welsh Water.

Glenfield Invicta Limited, one of the UK's leading water project solutions providers, is pleased to announce that it has been appointed by Welsh Water as part of their 2020 – 2025 investment programme, (AMP7).

Glenfield Invicta continues to strengthen its long-term partnership with Welsh Water after being awarded a five-year supply contract to provide bespoke large diameter valves for Welsh Water’s reservoir assets.

Glenfield Invicta will be working in collaboration with the engineering teams from Welsh Water and its appointed delivery partners. Contributory factors in winning the contract included Glenfield Invicta’s unrivalled 170-years’ experience in specifying, designing and manufacturing reservoir valves; its ability to provide engineering support and guidance, where necessary, for the installation and operation of the valves; and, its access to the global engineering resources of the AVK Group.

Paul Boyden, Managing Director – Commercial, led the Glenfield Invicta team that secured the contract:

'Having already worked closely with Welsh Water on many other Reservoir projects including the complex Llyn Brenig contract we recognise that this is a valuable and prestigious framework agreement to win. It is a huge endorsement of our decision last year to merge the expertise and resources of Glenfield and Invicta into one project engineering powerhouse.
Reservoirs and dams always present challenging environments for valves to operate in. Welsh Water’s decision to appoint Glenfield Invicta as its main supplier is recognition of our work to continually develop and expand our family of bespoke reservoir-specification valves which deliver optimal functionality in such demanding conditions.
Welsh Water stipulated that all valves must carry a 100-year design life expectancy. We are in the unique position of being able to physically show customers Glenfield valves that are over 100 years old in situ and still fully operational.
We are delighted, excited and can’t wait to get started.’

Welsh Water is the fourth largest company in Wales with a workforce of around 3,000. Its 26,500 km of water mains deliver over 820mn litres of water to 3 million people.
